Hint

In „das ist Anna Maywald, eine Freundin“, we see that das can also mean that. The article eine is the female form of ein.

And just as you can say „I want out“ instead of „I want to walk out“ in English, you can sometimes drop the main verb in German and say „ich muss zur Arbeit“ instead of „ich muss zur Arbeit gehen“.

  1   Comprehension quiz

Anna is Paul’s girlfriend.
Anna Maywald is in her office, and learns that Meili wants to enroll in a course of study.
Anna already knows Meili, and what she wants.
Paul forgot that he’s supposed to be on his way to work.

  1. The first statement of page 1 is a bit confusing. In my opinion it should say,
“Anna already knew Meili and what she wanted before she walked in.”

    1. Hi! The Grammar Explainer and the Vocabulary Coach are extra audios. They’re for learning by hearing. For example if you want to brush up your German vocab while jogging through the park.

  2. Hi, I understand that the Grammar explainer and the Vocabulary coach are audio only, but would you consider adding a grammar summary somewhere? thanks
