Grammar
In the previous episodes, we already covered conjugations a little bit. In German, like in English, verbs must be conjugated (changed) depending on the personal pronoun. Let’s compare two verbs:
to be
I am
you are
he, she, it is
we are
(you (pl.) are)
they are
kommen
ich komme
du kommst
er, sie, es kommt
wir kommen
ihr kommt
sie kommen
The three colored plural forms at the bottom (kommen, kommt, kommen) are a copy of one or two forms at the top.
You’re not expected to study all of these forms yet. For now, you only need to actively use the conjugation with ich:
kommen
ich komme
wohnen
ich wohne
arbeiten
ich arbeite
Regular verbs all follow the same pattern. The ending changes. The rest stays the same. But some verbs are irregular. That’s why können and kannst are actually forms of the same verb. To keep it simple, we will focus on those much later.
2 Correct only the wrong personal pronouns
Choose where to fill in „ich“. Or choose „–“ if it’s not wrong.
